Local businesses can look forward to increased foot traffic as the fifth annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta returns to Old Town. Set to entertain the crowds this year is the Ollimpaxqui Ballet who have performed nationally and for the White House.

“We are lucky to have this incredible dance troupe and equally lucky we got them for Cinco de Mayo before the President and Mrs. Bush did”, added Behnke, Event Organizer. “Ollimpaxqui has been invited to the White House twice this year and will perform with the best singers and mariachis around the nation.” Mexicanisimo Mariachi’s is billed as the best Mariachis in Dallas and will perform in conjunction with the Ballet. Latin Grammy winners, Havana NRG Orchestra a Salsa and Meringue dance band will fire up the crowd at the event. Local area high school Latino Club Dance groups and the Dallas Aztec Dancers will dance traditional Mexican indigenous folk dances.

Local Lewisville area restaurants such as Dallas Tortilla & Tamale Factory and Carmelita’s Latin Cocina will feature traditional Mexican fare and there will also be a children’s area sponsored by Lewisville State Bank. Several Main St. retail stores will also participate within the Arts and Crafts venue.

Cinco de Mayo is a free fun family event that builds bridges in the community by promoting cultural diversity through traditional food, music and dance. The event raises awareness for the Christian Community Action Food Pantry. Donations to the Food Pantry are strongly encouraged or a one dollar donation to help the Pantry buy much needed general merchandise items. The event also features a scholarship. Applications will be available at participating Old Town businesses or you can download the application from the official website.
