Western Day returns to Old Town Lewisville on Sept. 1, 2007
(City Press Release)

Randy Rogers headlines Western Day festival on Sept. 1, 2007

The City of Lewisville will present the popular Western Day festival Saturday, Sept. 1, in Old Town Lewisville.
Headliner for this year’s event is the Randy Rogers Band, scheduled to perform at 6:30-8 p.m.

Other planned activities at the family event, designed to showcase Lewisville’s rich history, include a Main Street parade, two festival stages of live music, arts and crafts vendors, gunfight re-enactments, trick ropers, car show, Longhorn cattle drive, three nights of the annual Labor Day Rodeo and the third annual World Tamale Eating Championship.

Western Day outdoor activities (including a children’s area, craft vendors, live music, and Western-style re-enactments and demonstrations) will start with a Main Street parade at 10 a.m. led by Texas Longhorns.
The one-mile parade route runs from Cowen Street east on Main Street to Mill Street, then south to DeLay Middle School.

This year’s parade activities will include a Children’s Pet Parade.  Individuals, church groups, animal rescue groups, businesses, non-profits and special interest groups may participate.

Each pet parade entry will receive a free snack, drink and a souvenir pet parade button (while supplies last). Applications are available at www.cityoflewisville.com.

The World Tamale Eating Championship, an official International Federation of Competitive Eating event, will grant a $1,500 grand prize to the competitor who consumes the most Dallas Tortilla & Tamale Factory tamales in 10 minutes. It will start at 1 p.m. on the front steps of Lewisville City Hall.

The Lewisville Saddle Club will present its annual Labor Day Rodeo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights starting at 8 p.m. at the Rodeo Grounds, between Kealy and Mill streets a few blocks north of Main Street. Admission is charged at the gate.
